I spent just over 2 weeks here and was made to feel right at home from day one! The hostel has a very zen peaceful atmosphere with hammocks everywhere and a lovely garden and the field next door lights up with hundreds of fire flies every evening. I had a wonderful time here relaxing, enjoying Uvita and surfing at Playa Chaman and Cesar was an amazing host :) There is also a pretty little vegan breakfast/coffee house right next door which I went to on more than one occasion! The hostel was amazing! The guy at the reception, Cesar, was incredibly nice! The girl of the cleaning was super nice as well! The hostel is surrounded by nature! It got an incredible vibe that makes you feel good! The services are good too! We loved it here!

We organize many healthy movements such as yoga retreats, dancing, working out, massages, or spiritual ceremonies, but also we will show how we chill in the jungle with amazing hammocks everywhere in our secluded natural property. We provide two shared dorms, two ventilated private rooms, and many fans, we have two kitchens and three bathrooms, excellent wifi for digital nomads coffee, and free tea all day long. Furthermore, we have some big garden areas where you will feel free because you are surrounded by nature and fresh air. And the best vibes. We love helping people organize their dream vacation by advancing with transportation what to do and where to go while they staying with us or next destinations.

Learn The Basics

Learn to surf with instructors certified by the International Surfing Association (ISA) in Uvita! Surfing is a fantastic way to enjoy the sun. Our programs include surfboard rental, shared room lodging, and five two-hour lessons per week with professional instructors.

Improve Your Skills

Surfers strive for personal goals in the water. Our skilled instructors will teach you how to surf effectively, from learning the technique of “popping up” to reading waves, controlling your upper body, and experiencing the thrill of catching a wave.

Lessons & Safaris

We offer lessons & Safaris for all levels and ages. Each class has a maximum of 3 students per instructor. Lessons include surfboard, rash guard, fruit, and 2 hours of water time. Our instructors have vast teaching experience and participate in surf competitions.

Experience the joy of learning Spanish from native speakers while on a vacation in paradise. We assess your language level through placement exams and offer classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners of all ages. We encourage students of all ages to join us at Luminosa for their Spanish language journey.

Rafting in Uvita Costa Rica with Luminosa Hostel

White Water Rafting $135pp

We offer rafting tours on the Savegre and Chorro rivers, each with its unique experience. The Savegre River is ideal for beginners and intermediates, while the Chorro River suits intermediate and advanced rafters. Our tours are guided by certified professionals, ensuring safety and fun. Each journey lasts 2-3 hours and features swimming spots and beautiful waterfalls. We provide a snack, a lunch, and a photo service.

Corcovado Full Day Tour, Costa Rica with Luminosa Hostel

Corcovado Full-Day Tour $140pp

Home to 2% of global biodiversity, offers a thrilling adventure. Journey begins in Uvita at 6:30am, a boat ride through Rio Sierpe’s mangroves, teeming with monkeys, reptiles, and birds. At Sirena Station, a guided two-part hike introduces visitors to wildlife, including Anteaters, Dantas, and potentially Pumas. The tour package includes transport, meals, park entry, and a distinctive South Pacific Coast experience.

Paragliding in Uvita Costa Rica with Luminosa Hostel

Paragliding $140pp

Starting in Dominical, we’ll transport you to the mountains for a guided glide over the jungle canopy. Enjoy stunning views of Dominical and Uvita during your return flight to the beach. The cost covers a shuttle service from Mama Tucans, a 15-20 minute tandem flight, and a return shuttle. An optional $30 photo package is available; with in-flight pictures, you can decide to buy post-flight.
